Nice to meet you
Allow us to introduce ourselves properly in case you’re wondering who’s behind this blog. We’re Marc and Marina and we’re originally from Catalonia -to be more precise we were born in the cities of Lleida and Manresa respectively.
The four things we love the most in this world are nature, food, travelling and any kind of physical activity. Since we were young we’ve been practising different sports such as climbing, trekking or skiing and this has made us realise how much we like being outdoors. Travelling is in our blood so every time we have the opportunity we just pack our stuff and head to our next adventure to discover new places.
I (Marina) am in process of becoming a scientist and that’s why in 2016 I moved to Leiden (a small city in the Netherlands) to study my master. There I discovered what it truly means to live abroad: adapt to another culture, try new food, speak another language, meet people that you’d never think you could be friends with and, maybe the most important one, know yourself better. It just opens incredibly your mind and you live unforgettable experiences. As it’s said, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
And I (Marc) left home for the first time when I started uni and moved to Barcelona. Even though it’s just less than 2h drive from my hometown, it felt like a great leap and the beginning of a fresh new life. Living alone, cooking for myself, making new friends and discovering an amazing world that seems to be there, waiting to be discovered and enjoyed for the ones who dare. I then graduated college and tried to move abroad twice, to the US first and to Berlin the second time. But as I strongly believe, life happens for us and not to us, so I ended up doing a 2 years acting program in Barcelona and after that I finally moved abroad for the first time in June 2017, destination: London.
London was a great opportunity to explore an unknown place for us and there, with the perspective that distance gave us, our blog was born. It happened in a typical UK scenario, a rainy evening in a pub when we were missing the sun and the beach that we started talking about all the good things of our country. We remembered a lot of places we’d visited and a lot of adventures we’d had there. Suddenly, we just felt the need of writing all of it down and sharing it to the world.
No matter how far we find ourselves, we like to go back often to Catalonia to discover new places and enjoy the ones we already know. We’ll never get tired of this amazing country and all the different landscapes it has to offer.
